Why Easter moves every year
Western churches keep Easter on the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after March 21 (the church's fixed date for the spring equinox), using a set table of moon dates rather than the real sky. That puts Easter Sunday between March 22 and April 25. Good Friday is always the Friday before it and Easter Monday the day after, so the Easter long weekend moves with it. Orthodox churches use the older Julian calendar for the same rule, so their Easter is usually one to five weeks later. Orthodox Easter dates
Lent, the 40 days of preparation before Easter, starts on Ash Wednesday, Wednesday, February 10, 2027. When Lent starts
