Why Orthodox Easter is on a different date
Both traditions keep Easter on the Sunday after the first full moon of spring. Orthodox churches (Greek, Ukrainian, Russian, Serbian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Antiochian and others) work it out with the Julian calendar, which now runs 13 days behind the one we use, and with the older moon tables. So Orthodox Easter usually comes one to five weeks after Western Easter, and in some years it falls on the same Sunday (next: 2028 and 2031). Coptic and Ethiopian Orthodox churches celebrate Easter on the same day as the Eastern Orthodox.
